(Guatemala
& Seoul, South Korea – March 20th 2025) – ShinWon Corporation(CEO: JJ Park), a
leading global apparel manufacturer, announced the installation of an Aqua
Tower at El Patrocinio Elementary School in Guatemala, in partnership with
Columbia Sportswear, in honor of World Water Day.
ShinWon’s contribution to the Aqua Tower
installation is part of the Aqua Tower Project, led by the international
nonprofit organization Planet Water Foundation, which deploys innovative
technology solutions to provide safe drinking water in disaster-affected and impoverished
communities across the developing world. Through this initiative, water purification
systems are installed in schools and local areas facing severe water scarcity,
ensuring long-term sustainability and improved public health.
The newly installed Aqua Tower at El
Patrocinio, located near one of ShinWon’s manufacturing facilities in Guatemala,
has the capacity to purify up to 1,000 liters of water per hour, supplying
clean drinking water for up to 1,800 people daily. This initiative is expected
to mitigate waterborne diseases and significantly enhance the quality of life
for local residents.
Beyond providing clean drinking water, ShinWon
and Columbia have extended their efforts to tackle health inequity and improve
public health and hygiene standards. The companies have conducted handwashing
and personal hygiene education programs for students, offering guidance on
disease prevention and healthy living habits. Additionally, they are working to
enhance community resilience by establishing a sustainable water supply system
and integrating hygiene education.
JJ Park, CEO of ShinWon, stated, “We are
proud to contribute to addressing the global water crisis in celebration of World
Water Day. ShinWon remains dedicated to supporting the communities where our
overseas subsidiaries operate, delivering meaningful and lasting impact.”
